Summer Fades … Photos ~ Quotes

  • Love the quotes and pics. Your weather must get colder before ours. The Aspen trees are starting to show us their “golden glow”. Aspen are rooted together in clumps so that when one clump changes it doesn’t mean the ones that are still green do. It is magnificent.

My daughter, Cynthia, had a bad fall mid-July that we didn’t know about. During the wedding rehearsal party, Aug. 21st, Cyndi arrived as her happy self. Fifteen minutes later when I talked to her she would not answer me. I thought she was upset with something someone might have said. I left her alone and came back 15 minutes later to the patio where she was standing up. I sked her a question and just got pursed lips. I asked what was wrong and nothing. Next, she said: I don’t feel well. I asked where—pursed lips, no answer. Bottom Line it turned out she was having seizures. Hours later she was rushed to the ER in Flagstaff where she was diagnosed. She had a severe brain trauma resulting in brain surgery on Aug. 22nd the day Sharon’s daughter was getting married. All family members thought she was acting “weirdly” and that she was “stoned”. Russ remarked that Cyndi NEVER DID DRUGS. This information was gathered the day of the wedding, etc. She had a sub dural hemorrhage that didn’t affect her brain cells. Cyndi and we are blessed by God that she has regained her cognitive and physical abilities to 97%+. It has been an extremely stressful time for all of us, particularly Cyndi, Roy, and me. A nightmare in real time. After being in Flagstaff for over one week and then in Grand Junction Acute Rehab for 8 days and staying we us for more than one week, Cyndi is now living in her own home. We are at a higher altitude, and she feels better there. She is on an anti-seizure med and cannot drive for 3 mos. Since she is in Real Estate, that makes life difficult for her.

I hope that you are in touch with Tommy. His cancer has traveled from his lungs to his adrenal gland. He told me that the tumors are shrinking in both areas but he is extremely weak and tired. It is all so sad.

Lori, my daughter-in-law has Bulbar ALS. At this point she cannot talk and can barely swallow. She will be entering a trial at Mayo/Scottsdale next week and also have a feeding tube inserted. It is beyond horrible.

Jess’s husband, Tom, had a dirt bike accident May 30th. He was in ICU for 7 days, hospital for 26 days. He doesn’t remember most of it. By the blessings of our Lord, Tom is now cognitively 95% there. He had many bleeds in his brain. He is lucky to be alive! We saw them again when they visited Cyndi here two weeks ago.

It has been a difficult year for our family from a health perspective. Our faith keeps us going!

Hope all is well on your end.

    Love, Donna
