Visiting Bainbridge Island is a marvelous way to experience to “island time” ~ any time of the year. Walk about Winslow Way, browse the shops, especially Eagle Harbor Book Co. They have changed the interior and made it even more attractive and welcoming. I always find at least one book to treasure. This time, it’s “Simplicity” ~ Day Planner by Paulo Coelho.
Because of Covid, when you visit, check restaurant times of operation. My favorite place for lunch (Restaurant Marche) is now only open for dinner. Same for several other restaurants and cafes while others are closed certain days of the week. But, the marvelous local coffee shops are open and inviting.
Bainbridge Island is terrific for a quick getaway from Seattle as a walk-on ferry passenger. Or you can drive onto the ferry, spend a day or weekend exploring Bainbridge Island and continue westward to the Viking town of Poulsbo and from there continue to the Olympic Peninsula and Port Townsend and Port Angeles.

Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendor of achievement
Are but experiences of time.
For yesterday is but a dream…And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!
By Kalidasa
